Nature lover, mudlark and maker of things

Sue Cordingley
I am an artist maker living in the Calder Valley, Yorkshire. My work revolves around my connection to the valley, its nature, history and heritage. I make unique assemblages and paintings from materials I have found and recycled, and document plants I see on my walks.
I’ve led creative workshops at the Halifax Art Society and Bankfield Museum, sharing my love of making through creative practice. My mudlarking finds and handmade books have been exhibited at the Halifax Industrial Museum and Sowerby Bridge library, they reflect my interest in local history.
Alongside my mudlarking practice, I take an interest in the natural world. I record the changing seasons during my regular walks to the river and document the observations through sketches in my nature journals. I also illustrate, through 143 Tales Publishing, a series of books by author Sarah Stone about a family of dragons that live in Wainhouse Tower.
